Distillery Marzadro, grappa from 1949

The Distillery Marzadro is a vast and airy complex made of stone, wood and glass, which is expressed with its harmonious architecture immersed in the green of the vineyards. The construction of the structure was entrusted by the family Marzadro to the Bolzantine architects Walter Maurmayr and Günther Plaickner, who, based on the concept of "contemporary craftsmanship" gave rise to a completely integrated structure in the surrounding area. The roof, for example, was covered by a green carpet formed by 60,000 pre-cultivated plants, belonging to the species of lichens: a solution adopted not only for aesthetic reasons, but also to ensure better thermal insulation of the structure, and thus allow an important energy saving. The high value of the new plant in the ecological profile is also highlighted by the orientation in the space of the buildings, which are in fact positioned to make the most of their place compared to the sun.
